See, Now I'm All Confused

Hey, to the anonymous person who posted on the Drunk post. It would be helpful if you let me know exactly which photo is yours. Because the one on that post came from another blog... one without copyright info at the bottom of the page.

In the future, before you go leveling accusations, please at least take the time to put the URL of your site in the comment so that I can actually do something about it. I respect that you spent 12 years and thousands of dollars on your site, but there is absolutely no way I can do anything about if you don't give me a bit of a clue.

And it's not my intention to start on internet war with you, so I am perfectly willing to fix a mistake out of internet-ignorance. Lend respect to me so I can lend respect to you.

  1. Kate, the picture in question is on your November 12 post "Dry Season". A little tip, if you copy pictures to your harddrive and use them from there you won't be linked to the original picture.

  2. moonshadow: Thank you very much for alerting me to that. Now I understand why that picture hadn't been appearing in the post. I was just absolutely flummoxed about what was going on with everything.

    You learn something new everyday.

And thank you for the tip. It shall definitely be used in the future.

  3. You realize that the complaint was that he claims copyright on photos. I'm not real sure of all the legality of fair use on things posted online. I don't think you're legally violating the copyright laws if you're using them for personal post and are not making a profit off of them. But if you save and rename them they shouldn't come up in searches. And as long as you don't remove their name and information from the picture it's actually promoting their site. If they're smart they'll see it that way and won't complain.

Your -work-around- sounds a bit shabby and low-road. Unprofessional regardless of the rational.

Thanks for removing the link though!
